This Privacy Policy describes how Kerm collects your personal information and our obligations to ensure that we will not directly do business with or sell your data. This policy is effective as of July 3rd, 2026. You must not reverse engineer, deconstruct, disassemble, decompile, copy, modify, distribute, sell, or attempt to extract the source code of this application. No part of the Kerm application may be copied, photocopied, reproduced, translated, distributed, transmitted, displayed, published, broadcast or reduced to any electronic medium or machine-readable form, in whole or in part, without prior written consent of the creator. Any other reproduction in any form without our prior written consent and permission is prohibited. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies and services that Kerm uses but does not own or control. For further information, feel free to contact us:
1. COLLECTION OF INFORMATION
When Kerm is installed on your device, you will be asked to sign in to use our Service. You must sign in either with Apple ID (Sign in with Apple) or Google Sign-In. The types of information Kerm may collect are as follows:
Apple Sign-In & Google Sign-In: Authentication tokens/user IDs needed to create and maintain your account. Depending on your Apple/Google settings, we may receive limited profile information, such as your name and/or email address.
Face Data
Face data Kerm collects and processes: When you submit a camera or library photo, Kerm processes the photo and the faces visible in it. On your device, Apple's Vision framework detects face rectangles, eye landmark positions, face-detection confidence, and face and person counts. Kerm assigns a number to each detected face and may process visible, non-identifying characteristics such as expression, pose, hair, and overall appearance. Kerm does not identify anyone, compare faces across photos, create face embeddings or face templates, or use face data for authentication.
How Kerm uses face data: Kerm uses detected face locations and eye positions to number faces and place the selected animal stickers over them. A downscaled copy of the photo with numbered face markers is used to select a handcrafted animal sticker for each person or create a Group Vibe result and caption. Kerm does not use face data for advertising, marketing, tracking, profiling, identity verification, or any purpose unrelated to the result you request.
Face data sharing and storage: Face rectangles, eye positions, and confidence values remain in the app's temporary memory and are not stored by Kerm or transmitted as structured face data. To generate a result, the downscaled numbered photo, face numbers, and selected mode are transmitted through Kerm's Firebase/Google Cloud function to OpenAI for processing. The function does not write the analysis photo to Kerm's cloud storage. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default, but API inputs and outputs may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring under OpenAI's API data policy.
Face data retention: If you do not save or share a Kerm, Kerm discards the temporary face-detection data and photo when the analysis session ends. If you choose Save or Share, Kerm stores the original photo, the composed Kerm result, and related result information, including face count, face numbers, assigned stickers or archetypes, and generated captions, in Firebase Storage and Firestore under your account. A shared link also stores a copy of the composed result so the recipient can view it; it does not publish the original photo. Saved and shared content is retained until you delete your account or ask Kerm to delete it. A copy saved to your device's Photos app is controlled by you and your device settings.
Kerm does not sell face data or submitted photos.
Generated results and saved Kerms: Kerm may store generated results so you can view them later in your Kerms history. This may include:
- The final generated Kerm image
- Captions or group vibe text generated for the result
- The mode you selected, such as Animal Archetypes or Group Vibe
- The date and time the result was created or saved
Kerm stores saved results only to provide app features such as your Kerms history, saving, and sharing. If you choose to save a result to your device’s Photos app, that image is stored in your photo library and managed by your device settings.
Notifications: Kerm may send local reminders and push notifications.
Device information: For app improvement and stability, Kerm may collect information such as:
- App interactions and events (e.g., screens viewed, features used)
- Purchase/subscription-related events (analytics events)
- Crash reports and diagnostics (e.g., crash traces, performance signals)
Waitlist information: If you join the waitlist on Kerm's website, we store your email address and the source that referred you to the website. We use this information to contact you about Kerm's launch. You may ask us to remove your waitlist information at any time by contacting us.
Payment information: Kerm does not collect or store payment details directly. All transactions are handled by Apple through the App Store.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
Kerm uses information to provide and improve the Service, including:
- Generate animal sticker results, group vibe results, and captions.
- Store your saved Kerms so you can view them later in your Kerms history.
- Allow you to save generated results to your device or share them with others.
- Respond to support enquiries, feedback, or requests if you contact us.
- Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve features and user experience.
- Diagnose and fix crashes, bugs, and performance issues.
- Send reminders or notifications if enabled.
- Manage subscriptions and entitlement access through Apple.
Kerm will not:
- Sell your personal data to any corporate entity.
- Use your submitted photos for advertising, marketing, tracking, or profiling.
- Use your submitted photos for purposes other than generating the result you request.
4. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION
Kerm keeps temporary face-detection data and an unsaved photo only for the active analysis session. Kerm does not persist this temporary data after the session ends. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring under its API data policy.
We retain generated results and saved Kerms until you delete your account or request deletion. This may include the original photo, final generated Kerm image, face count, face numbers, assigned stickers or archetypes, captions or group vibe text, selected mode, and timestamps.
We store basic account information you provide, such as your email address, account identifiers, subscription status, and app settings, until you delete your account or request deletion. If you save a generated result to your device’s Photos app or share it with another app, that copy is stored outside Kerm and is managed by your device settings, Apple, iCloud, or the app you shared it with.
Kerm may retain certain information if required or permitted by applicable law, such as records needed for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, subscription management, or legal compliance. When you request account deletion, we delete your personal information from our systems unless we are legally required to keep certain records.
Please keep in mind that deletion systems may not always complete instantly or flawlessly. You have the right to contact us and ask us to confirm that your information has been deleted properly. If you experience any issue with account deletion in the Kerm app, please contact us and ask us to delete your information:
5. HOW TO CONTROL YOUR INFORMATION
Edit your information: Kerm allows you to manage your stored results in the app. We want you to be in control of your information. As of today, you can edit information such as your name and photo.
Revoke permissions: When you use the full functionality of Kerm, it means that you have granted all the necessary permissions. You can simply revoke these permissions by changing them in your device settings. Certain Services may lose full functionality if you do that and the application may not behave accordingly.
Delete results: You may ask us to delete saved analysis results by contacting us.
Account deletion: You can delete your account within the app. This deletes your stored analysis results associated with your account (subject to the legal/technical limitations described above).
6. DEVICE PERMISSIONS
Camera permission: You will need to grant camera permission if you decide to use the camera to take photos.
Photos permission: If you choose to save photos, Kerm requests permission to add the generated image to your photo library.
Notification permission: Kerm requests notification permission to send reminders and/or push notifications.
7. CHILDREN
Kerm is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. COOKIES
Our Service does not use cookies explicitly. However, the application may use third parties and libraries that use cookies to collect information. Please note that the information you share with third parties and libraries is governed by their specific Privacy Policies and Terms of Service. By providing our Service, we do not imply that we endorse or have reviewed their Privacy Policies. Please contact the third-party sites directly for more information.
